Turn the BEAT Around was established to benefit organizations that support victims of domestic violence. It is a annual dance party in memory and celebration of the life of Stephanie Roller. Stephanie Roller Bruner was murdered on November 22, 2010. Stephanie was quite unique but sadly the story of her death is not. Each day, in this country, 3 women are killed at the hands of a domestic partner. Stephanie's story was the same and on Friday, July 27, 2012, a 12 member jury found her husband, Dale Bruner, guilty of her murder! Turn the BEAT Around is our response to the terrible untimely death of our friend, Stephanie Roller and gives us all an opportunity to Silence the Violence and to END domestic violence. Join us...
We had a fabulous night out on October 12, 2012 in Breckenridge, Colorado. We hope you did too. If you weren't able to join us this year, be sure to join us next year in October 2013 for the 2nd annual event. With October being National Domestic Violence Awareness month, Turn the BEAT Around is the perfect answer to the question “what can I do?” Come and dance the night away…As event details emerge we will be posting them here.

Advocates for Victims of Assault was founded in 1979, out of a need to support victims of domestic violence. As our community has grown we have expanded our services to include victims of sexual assault, accidents, death and other trauma. Local law enforcement and other emergency first responders continue to use us as a helpful resource. In 1996, we opened our first safe house, which has consistently been occupied by women and children seeking refuge from battering and abuse. We also provide safe housing to men in local hotels.
